Judy O’Brien is a workplace culture professional with a strong focus on gender equity and a diverse career in entertainment, education and advocacy. In her role as head of the Culture, Diversity & Inclusion team at New Zealand Rugby she oversees the implementation of NZR's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and associated programmes of work for Women, Māori, Pasifika and Rainbow communities. As a champion for Rainbow inclusion, Judy has worked as peer-support facilitator for transgender and non-binary communities, steered the merger of two of NZ’s essential LGBTQ+ youth organisations, is a member of the Sport NZ working group for the implementation of their guiding principles for the inclusion of transgender people in community sport, and in 2022 led NZ Rugby to win 3 categories at the NZ Rainbow Excellence Awards.
