Dr Julia de Bres (she/her) is Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Massey University in Wellington. Her research focuses on how discourse is used to reproduce and challenge social inequalities. Julia is a Pākehā cisgender parent of a transgender child. She moderates a national support group for parents of transgender children, and chairs the Trans Health Research Network of the Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa. She is Principal Investigator on the Marsden Fund project ‘It takes a village: Picturing family support for transgender young people in Aotearoa’.
